Elmhurst, IL April 28-29, 2017. Nick Janowitz, owner of Patriot Sports and Fitness in Elmhurst, and Jeremy Miller, a Patriot trainer, will attempt to break the world record individually for number of pull-ups completed in 24 hours. The current record is 7,306!
“Breaking Records to Raise the Bars” will be held in downtown Elmhurst outside in the City Centre Plaza,147 North York St. 60126. The event is free and open to the public. Festivities will begin at 6:30pm on Friday, April 28th with a visit from the local fire department and the national anthem. Pull-ups will begin at 7pm. The event will continue into Saturday, April 29th with visits from the National Guard, a military vehicle provided by Veterans Garage, DJ Oliver, and a secondary pull-up bar for attendees to try out some pull-ups in support of Jeremy and Nick.
Jeremy Miller states, “I’m doing this to honor and show my gratitude to those who have died for our country. It’s mind blowing to me how many kids my age take advantage of the freedoms they have without taking into consideration the sacrifices that were made so they can have that freedom. Hearing stories of what these fallen men and women have done for us makes doing 24 hours of pull-ups seem a little bit easier.”
All proceeds from the event will benefit Pull-Up Bars for Patriots mission. Pull-Up Bars for Patriots hopes to raise a pull-up bar memorial in Elmhurst to honor Army Sgt. Joseph Vanek, who died in Iraq in 2007.
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Nick. Nick endured a power outage, almost freezing temperatures, rain and a move to a new venue to get just shy of 6,000 pull-ups!!! With a tearful end he ended around 1:30 pm with a goal to break the record before the end of the year. Nick is one of the fiercest and most focused individuals around. His determination to accomplish a feat very few would even think of doing, let alone actually try to do is incredible. Thanks again to Nick, Patriot Sports and Fitness and everyone who helped support this event and helping us "Raise the Bars."
